NYC - Day 1 - Getting Acquainted with the City

New York, NY

For this trip, I decided to try something new. I wanted to take a fabulous trip without doing all the work so I booked a tour with an all women's travel group called Sights and Soul Travel. I have been salivating over their tours for a couple of years so I decided to give it a try.

The day started with an early flight into LaGuardia and a harrowing cab ride to the hotel. It both amazed and terrified me that the cars would get so close to each other. There were times that I didn't think a credit card would fit between our cab and a neighboring car.

After lunch on our own and a few hours to unwind, the group met in the lobby of the hotel for introductions. Then, we set off on an historical / architectural walking tour which included the following places:

The Garment District

Herald Square- Macy's was right next to it.

It was a lot to take in. All the skyscrapers, the throngs of people, and the energy of the city were fantastic.

We ended the day with a walk to Vitae Restaurant for a lovely dinner and drinks. It was much needed sit-down time...my phone logged 8 miles of walking for the day.
